Are you motivated?
Do you feel you are kind of lost on what you are doing? When you arrive home, do you feel like studying? Are you motivated? Do you like to have conversations about what you are studying?
Do you think that by studying you’re going to have a happy future? If your answer is “NO” to all of the questions above, then the chance is that you are demotivated. Why does that happen? There are lots of reasons why this may be happening to you. For instance, maybe your parents sent you to that artistic school even knowing that you like science. Maybe in your environment there is no need for you to study. Maybe the real need for you is to work, or maybe your parents made you study something related to the family traditions like medicine or laws in which you are not interested at all, or maybe you are doing it knowing that when it finally comes to an end you are going to do something else, or many other reasons. Let’s talk about the school. How many times did you think that what you were learning was completely useless? How many times did you skip classes? How many times didn’t you study for a test? Those are clear signs of demotivation. The first thing we need to know then is: What is motivation?Motivation is the inner feeling of desire that people have to achieve their own goals. It is the felling of “wanting to do something”. It might be intrinsic, which comes from your inner person. The reward you got from achieving your goal is your own joy and happiness. And it might be extrinsic motivation, which its reward comes from the people that surround you. You receive some sorts of “prizes” from other people, from applause or hug to material prizes. Sometimes students don’t feel any reward by doing what they are doing. Nor happiness neither prizes. They feel completely unhappy, miserable and obliged to study at school. Why does that happen?

In my experience, I have seen many demotivated young people because they already know that their future is not there. They are doing it just because they have to. Then they will do an entirely different activity like working to earn money or even worst: do nothing. It is because of that reason that children with limited resources fall in bad habits such as: selling drugs, taking drugs and making “easy money”. Once they quit school is extremely difficult to motivate them again. One of the biggest problems of those people with limited resources and who quit schools is that they don’t really know what else to do. They are so immerse in their own daily lives that they don’t see other choices. They don’t have bigger aims either. There are others whose parents don’t earn much money and they know that when they finish high school they will have to work just as their parents and they will have to quit studying to afford their family’s needs. And if the worst comes to the worst, as I already mentioned, they could be interested in making easy money with the excuse that they have to support their families no matter what. I've also seen people really motivated and committed to achieve their goals, and I think that is the real key; The Goals and aims you could have.
So, why are you unmotivated? Do you think your future is nothing to do with the things you are doing now? Do you imagine yourself doing something totally different in order to achieve your goals and happiness? If you are really interested in achieving something you will make it, of course it is going to take all your effort but it will be worth it. The goals you may have motivate you to do whatever it takes to make it, we all should have some kind of goal. It is important your goal to be possible. You can’t just think of something really amazing at the begging. The only thing that it may cause to you is frustration because of the difficulties you will have to achieve it. You should go step by step, achieving one aim at a time. This way you will be motivated to continue your persuade of achievements.
