Article!

Are you motivated?
Do you feel you are kind of lost on what you are doing? When you arrive home, do you feel like studying? Are you motivated? Do you like to have conversations about what you are studying?
Do you think that by studying you’re going to have a happy future? If your answer is “NO” to all of the questions above, then the chance is that you are demotivated. Why does that happen? There are lots of reasons why this may be happening to you. For instance, maybe your parents sent you to that artistic school even knowing that you like science. Maybe in your environment there is no need for you to study. Maybe the real need for you is to work, or maybe your parents made you study something related to the family traditions like medicine or laws in which you are not interested at all, or maybe you are doing it knowing that when it finally comes to an end you are going to do something else, or many other reasons. Let’s talk about the school. How many times did you think that what you were learning was completely useless? How many times did you skip classes? How many times didn’t you study for a test? Those are clear signs of demotivation. The first thing we need to know then is: What is motivation?Motivation is the inner feeling of desire that people have to achieve their own goals. It is the felling of “wanting to do something”. It might be intrinsic, which comes from your inner person. The reward you got from achieving your goal is your own joy and happiness. And it might be extrinsic motivation, which its reward comes from the people that surround you. You receive some sorts of “prizes” from other people, from applause or hug to material prizes. Sometimes students don’t feel any reward by doing what they are doing. Nor happiness neither prizes. They feel completely unhappy, miserable and obliged to study at school. Why does that happen?

In my experience, I have seen many demotivated young people because they already know that their future is not there. They are doing it just because they have to. Then they will do an entirely different activity like working to earn money or even worst: do nothing. It is because of that reason that children with limited resources fall in bad habits such as: selling drugs, taking drugs and making “easy money”. Once they quit school is extremely difficult to motivate them again. One of the biggest problems of those people with limited resources and who quit schools is that they don’t really know what else to do. They are so immerse in their own daily lives that they don’t see other choices. They don’t have bigger aims either. There are others whose parents don’t earn much money and they know that when they finish high school they will have to work just as their parents and they will have to quit studying to afford their family’s needs. And if the worst comes to the worst, as I already mentioned, they could be interested in making easy money with the excuse that they have to support their families no matter what. I've also seen people really motivated and committed to achieve their goals, and I think that is the real key; The Goals and aims you could have.
So, why are you unmotivated? Do you think your future is nothing to do with the things you are doing now? Do you imagine yourself doing something totally different in order to achieve your goals and happiness? If you are really interested in achieving something you will make it, of course it is going to take all your effort but it will be worth it. The goals you may have motivate you to do whatever it takes to make it, we all should have some kind of goal. It is important your goal to be possible. You can’t just think of something really amazing at the begging. The only thing that it may cause to you is frustration because of the difficulties you will have to achieve it. You should go step by step, achieving one aim at a time. This way you will be motivated to continue your persuade of achievements.

MAGAZINE II

Are you tired of being a teacher? Are you always saying the same things to your students and never getting anything in reward? not even a "thank you"?? Are you about to quit??

If you feel just like this , you have to read this article!
It´s truly hard when you are repeating the same things to your students and they just don't listen to you. It is even worse in a public school where are many problems inside the school , the classroom and even inside your kids.
You need to be aware of all those factors to give a good leson to your students in order to catch their attention.
I know, by my own experience, that it is kind of frustrating when you try and do your best for those children who really want to learn and improve and there are some others who make the impossible in order to make you quit.
But you know what? you better don't give up!
I know it is easy to say it but at the very end of your life and career you will be proud of yourself because the teacher's job is the hardest one. You're educating the new generations, the new society, and honestly speaking , I've known no man who likes the youth behavior nowadays.
It is in your hands to change the people's wrong behavior , and wrong perception of youth. You can change it!
If you're really into social concerns I'm pretty sure you won't quit.
Our job is frustrating, I agree, but it is the most beautiful one. You give your kids the possibility to know other world, the world of knowledge , and that, my dear colleagues, is crucial to survive.
Do not give up! you're students are waiting for you to teache them the life's rules. Don't waste this opportunity.

Letter to the editor

I want to express through this letter my sincere congratulations to Ms. Johnson.

I haven't heard about a person so committed with education for a long time. I really appreciate her commitment with those children who are in real danger of getting disrupted with the awful things they see in their everyday lives.

I've heard that Ms.Johnson has done a great and beautiful job with those kids. She has given them a reason to study and to get interested in their own academic progress. That should be a really hard work considering that those children's enviroment is the perfect distraction because they can get the "easy money" or they could get involved in some serious problem or they can maybe just quit school. So, getting them interested and concious that their future is in their own hands is a really valuable job.

She has shown to everybody her skills at teaching, she has shown herself and what kind of professional is she, and I could say, even not knowing her , that she is an excellent professional and excellent person as well.

In my point of view, she is the perfect model to other teachers who really want to make a change in youth thoughts and thinking.

Of course that there always be demotivated teachers but the best thing we can do is to keep believing in Education and believing that people who works in it and are interested in to will make a change , a huge change in the end.

Congratulations Ms. Johnson, you're an inspiration to us.

My Favorite Piece of Art

ok ...first of all I have to say that I don't have a favorite pice of art.

I kind of like many pieces of art, actually If you dind't know, I used to paint a lot when I was a little younger. Now I don't have enough time to do it and even If I wanted to, I don't have enough money either, because you know that t opaint with oil is really expensive.

Well, this painting is called " The Sea Birds" by Mark Shasha.

I actually painted something very very similar to this painting and I really like seeing it.

I have to say that the beach is a place I like a lot. When I was a little child I used to go to the beach very often. I usually went with my family: my parents and my brothers.

I have special feelings for it because I used to play just with my father (my mother was always taking care of my brothers) and ...I spent so many beautiful moments with my father in the beach that now , every time I walk by the seashore I remember my father.

If you read this I'm sure you're going to think that this "story" is very sad but is not.

Actually I think it is beautiful that you never forget a person you loved more than everything.

-.Autobiography.-

I was born on August, 24th 1988 here in Santiago, I'm the middle child and the only woman. My mother has always worked at home. Now she is working at my grandmother's house. My father used to work in Entel until he got fired .Then things got a little complex for us as a family.

We used to live downtown. For the last 6 years we have lived in Quinta Normal. I really don't like to live there that much. I don't really like the neighborhood.

Unfortunately my father died 5 years ago. It has been pretty difficult for me and for my family to get over it. Anyway , I'm trying my best to keep on living my normal life.

I attended to a private school all my school life.(by the way, I didn't like that school). As a child I always wanted to become into a dancing girl. My father sort of dislike that idea of mine. He wanted me to study architecture . he denied me the dancing possibility.

During my adolescence I met a lot of people and made a lot of friends too.
At the moment I'm studying English Pedagogy at Alberto Hurtado University .I'm pretty happy doing it . I wanted to be a artist though.

I hope that in two years time I may finish my career. I'm looking forward to achieve my biggest ambition which is to live abroad for some time. I would like to study there.
